Design Philosophy Statement

As a Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) student, my design philosophy is centred on creating intuitive and user-centred experiences that prioritize usability, accessibility, and user needs. I believe in applying a human-centred design approach to all of my projects, which involves gathering user research and feedback to inform the design process and ensure that the end product meets the needs and expectations of its intended users.

In my work, I strive to create aesthetically pleasing, visually appealing, functional and efficient designs. I believe that good design should look good and solve problems and enhance the user experience.

Attached above is a visual representation of my design process.

"I believe in using user-centred design methods to understand the needs and preferences of my users, and to create designs that meet their needs."

I'm concerned with the way in which people interact with technology. My first concern is to consider how continued interaction with a form of technology will change how people perceive each other and non-human actors. After all, how we perceive is the foundation for how we act. From my experiences learning to design digital solutions to human problems, I have gained a deep understanding and appreciation for the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in the design process. In order to create holistic solutions that balance the needs of all stakeholders, it is critical to include people from a wide range of disciplines. I believe that technology should be accessible and usable for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds and that the design of a product or service should take into consideration the diverse needs and preferences of its intended users. To achieve this, I prioritize user research and testing in the design process, as well as employing principles of universal design and inclusive design to ensure that the end product is as widely usable as possible.

"I believe in the power of design to create positive change and improve people's lives, and I strive to create designs that have a meaningful impact on the world."

My design philosophy is centred on creating user-centred experiences that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional, with a strong focus on usability and accessibility for all users. I recognize the impact aesthetics can have on the overall user experience, and I strive to create visually appealing designs that are consistent with the brand and overall aesthetic of the product or service.
